This is my first Youtube video up load. It's a tune called Karmic Relief. I am a big fan of solo jazz guitar and using that as my inspirtational base I compose for solo mandolin.
I am a big fan of the solo jazz guitar masters. It is with them in mind when I composed this tune called Smooth Accelerator.
I don't compose very many finger picking tunes. My family and I were on a camping trip on Prince Edward Island and I was trying come up with a version of Freight Train and this came out instead. Why fight the creative spirit.
I am of Irish/French Acadian descent so I guess Celtic music is in my veins. This tune is called Jumping into the Fray. Everytime I tried to compose a jig something else came out. When composed this one I guess I got carried away because ended up having four parts to it.
I have played virtually from time I started playing guitar. Several years ago I injured the ring finger on my fretting hand so I simply played slide while it was on the mend. What I found afterward was that in open E tuning the pentatonic "blues" box patterns (with a little massaging) had this middle eastern sound. So I came up with this and called it Arabic Slide.
Of course I'm a rocker from way back. I thought it might be cool to do an acoustic version of Voodoo Child.
I grew up with my Dad playing slide guitar which he called Hawaiin style so slide are deep in my brain. This tune sounded spiritual to me so I called it Church.
